Yesterday I finally got around to watch that NW gig from Sydney. Took me about 20 minutes, then I turned it off, because I simply couldn't bear with the crap. Who the hell told Tuomas that Anette can sing? She mostly only squeaks or screams, she can't take any high notes at all.But after she made a complete shit out of my all time favourite Ever

I sensibly keep my mouth shut most of the time when I've got something to say about Anette because almost nobody in my f-list seems to hear her false note and completely off-tune shouting...
So you can believe how happy I was to read that at least you were sensible!

It's Sleeping Sun, sung by both Tarja and Anette for comparison (and its a fair comparison since it are both liverecordings). I shit you not when I say that listening to it made me cry. For several reasons Sleeping Sun always had a very special meaning to me - even though it was played way to much - and than to here how Anette fucks it up. Tears. Squeeking and screaming indeed.
And I do give her a fair chance since every now and than I look up videos of Anette singing with Nightwish on YouTube, in that vain hope that one day it sounds good and I can love Nightwish again.

Oh and don't get me started on her clothing style! I'm not sure what she was wearing in Australia but I've seen quite some gigs were she wears some kind of bag as shirt/dress and than those awfull combat boots under it. And BRAS! Could somebody tell her of the existence of those? I hate it when women don't wear bras and you see them flapping around.
She might be really playfull with the guys, but she also has this pose on stage where she hangs over the mic stand like an old hag leaning on a stick. *shakes head* Elegance lady, elegance...

Can't agree with you more. I wasn't checking out on any stuff at all, because well...I have other things to be concerned about. I am completely out of date of what is going on in the NW camp and I couldn't care less. So what I saw yesterday was quite a shock for me *sigh* They are still very important to me, because discovering them led to quite a lot of changes in my life. But now it's just not the same. My love for Finland is as strong as ever, but it is not based on music anymore.
Nightwish are still the same lyrics and music, yes. The ingredients are the same, but the way the dish is served is different.
