Dear author, thank you for writing something for me! I'm really looking forward to your story, whatever it turns out to be :)
General stuff: I love stories where things happen, where characters come out of the story changed in some way, even if it's a subtle change. I especially love the interactions between characters, dialogue, snark, personality clashes, confessions, romance. I love stories that don't provide oversimplified resolutions to complex situations, where things aren't necessarily all neatly wrapped up at the end - it's okay if everything's not happily ever after, as long as there's some hope for the future. I like fic that challenges traditional gender roles and expectations. I love humour, as highbrow or lowbrow as you like, depending on what suits the story. Please feel free to include other characters from canon in supporting roles, whatever works for your story.
While I feel that porn can easily be the meat (heh) of a story, I like it best when it is wrapped in at least a delicate layer of plot, and when I can believe that it's these particular characters having sex, that they stay in-character throughout. But I really and truly am open to fic of any rating! If you are more of a fade-to-black sort of author, that's fine; if you want to show me non-shippy character interaction - friendship, rivalry, adventure - that's great too. However, if you do feel inspired to go the more porny route, I love m/m, f/f, m/f, threesomes, foursomes, moresomes, poly relationships, bisexuality, kink - and I'm very hard to squick, so don't worry about that. 1. Benjamin January Mysteries - Barbara Hambly (Benjamin, Rose, Hannibal)
I'd like a story that shows some slice of day-to-day life for the characters, a missing scene from one of the books, a piece of backstory, or whatever else you'd like to write! I am open to shipping the three characters in any combination, although I would prefer not to have Ben and Rose cheating on one another - if one or both are sleeping with Hannibal, I'd like them all to be on board with it.
2. Books of the Raksura - Martha Wells (any characters nominated)
I love the worldbuilding in these books, so if you'd like to show some aspect of the setting or Raksura society that we haven't seen yet, or expand on something hinted at in the books, that would be great. I ship Moon/Jade/Chime, and I also like Pearl/Ember as a pairing. Stone is my favourite grumpy grandfather! If you don't feel like writing about the canon relationships, maybe something with Moon and Ember getting to know each other better, or Stone backstory, or Pearl and Jade power struggles.
3. The Lion in Winter (any characters nominated)
I love the banter and snark here, as well as the angst and conflicted desire between Philip and Richard, and between Eleanor and Henry. One idea that I think would be hilariously fun would be to imagine social media interactions between the characters - what if they could text each other, unfriend each other on Facebook, talk trash about each other on Tumblr. What if Philip and Richard find one another on Grindr? Just a thought - if you prefer a more period-appropriate take on the characters, I'd be thrilled with that too!
4. The Masqueraders - Georgette Heyer (any characters nominated)
Cross-dressing shenanigans! Adventures! Confused sexual tension! If you want to stick with canon pairings, that's fine, but I'm also open to mixing and matching them if you're into that. Something set before the events of the novel, some earlier escapade of Robin and Prudence, would be fun, or something set afterwards - hopefully where there is some excuse for further cross-dressing?
5. Venetia - Georgette Heyer (any characters nominated)
I'm intrigued by the 'orgies' mentioned, and would love to see Venetia introduced to that side of Damerel's tastes - she seems like she would be game for experimenting and trying new things. I also love Aubrey and his relationship with his sister, and his relationship with Damerel. Something from their honeymoon (on which Aubrey accompanies them, naturally) would be delightful!
6. Oglaf (Virgin Cobbler, New Model Army Commander, Lesbian Pirates, Heterosexual Frigate Crew)
I realize this is kind of an odd assortment of characters, so it's up to you if you want to try and combine them, or just focus on one or two. If you can come up with a way that they can all interact, that would be cool, but I'm just as happy with something that looks at, say, other customers the Virgin Cobbler has had, or the battles fought by the New Model Army (Skin to Win!), or the conflicts between the Lesbian Pirates and the Heterosexual (but easily confused) Frigate. I love the humour of the strip, so that's the main thing I'd like to see, but I'm also open to porn if you feel like writing it!
