Didn't I tell you it would be a hot summer...
We hit the century mark for the first time this year on Saturday and let me tell ya it was a hot ass weekend...specially considering what we were doing out in the heat. Friday and Saturday Kevin and I got out and rebuilt a section of the retaining wall that runs north-south along the western side of our property between our yard and our neighbors drive. The wall is probably original to the house so that puts it around 35 years old. We spent about 2 hours on Saturday morning getting it to the point that it would support our fence in the event of rain. *laughs* Yeah right, like we are going to get rain this time of year. :P
Speaking of rain...we aren't getting any and there is none in sight. As such we went into water mode a week or two ago. Sprinklers are set to run for 10 minutes per zone twice a day in an effort to keep the lawn and plants alive. We are also running the soaker hoses at least once or twice a week so the house foundation doesn't crack and fail...FFS Texas soils suck. :P
Sunday we mostly hid in the house to recover from the ass whipping that the retaining wall project handed us but I did get out and dabble with a little painting. We have picked out the base and trim colours for the exterior of the house and we have been testing them on the area enclosed by the patio. So far I would say they look really nice and it will make a huge difference for the curb appeal of the house when we manage to get it all done. *smirks* I swear I have been painting since the first day I owned this place. :P
Let me just say that my arms and legs hurt today. Swinging an 8lb sledgehammer at a 1/2" rebar and then trying to drive said rebar into 6"x6" timbers is not pretty.
Random thought & a blonde moment: Doing 100MPH on a stretch of 360 this morning is a sure fire way to get your blood pumping. What's scary is that the Hemi was not even working hard, I was turning 3,500rpm (tach max is 7k) and the pedal was only a 1/4 of the way to the floor. Blonde moment is arriving at the office and realizing you don't have your bank card or your driver's license on you.

This is looking East along our alley, you can see that yes I have the worst looking fence and another project on my hooves. This one scares me due to it's height and the fact that my pool is mere feet behind it. :P
Also, belated birthday wishes go out to
marzolan who's b'day was the 5th and to
tygercowboy who celebrated his on the 6th. Hope you both had great birthdays! *hugs*
