More on that pesky little anthology

Evolution of a Predator

Moonlit shadows

Stalk the night

As the predator

Stalks his prey

Swift

Silent

Fleeting

Portents of doom

A solid shadow

Breaks away

From the moon’s

Embrace

Stalking silently

Through the snow,

The night

Is his domain

Burning amber

Sears the night,

Muscles

Tense and coil

Snow explodes

Around the beast

His prey is close…

There!

He pounces

On the wily thing

And holds

With all his might

Snarls and growls fill the air

As the predator holds strong

To the prey that writhes beneath him

Trying to break free

Finally, the thing goes still,

And the mighty predator

Lifts his head,

Victorious in the end

A growl sounds out

To the left

And the might predator turns,

A mouse dangling from its jaw.

The little wolf cub

Prances happily back

To his mother

Head and tail flying high.

He settles at his mother’s feet

Smugly

Chewing on his mouse

A victor of his battle.

His mother pins him

To the snow

And bathes him

With her tongue

The pack settles

Down to sleep,

Moonlight caressing

Their silky fur.

THE  END

And, in other random news about me:
I just had relatives visiting from Germany, and my cousin took it upon herself to teach me how to Knit, of all things! I told her that I had managed thus far without knowing how, I would manage the rest of my life as well.
She was not impressed.
So, here I am, knitting a scarf.
In HAWAII!
Where it's HOT and I'm never going to need a scarf!
So, I'm sending my cousin a scarf for Christmas next year. I figure I'll finish it by then...maybe...
