Rayven VS. the evil bug orgy AKA *SQUISH*

Sep 12, 2006 18:24

I've been seeing them for several days... I'd stop at a stop light on the way home and plop... onto my windshield are these two creepy bugs that are somehow joined at the abdomen in a mating act. They have bright red heads, and solid black bodies. I thought it was weird the first time. After about the third time I cut on my wipers to swiff them ( Read more... )

I love honey....SO MUCH...and I make candles....wax, and all. I took a beekeeping class, and will "keep bees" once I have room for them!

They are so cute...I get all close to them and watch them. They only sting you if you screw with them, or threaten them. Otherwise, they think you are a flower.

Help, I'm covered in beeeeees~

once when i was little (and i was really little so please forgive the cruelty, its something totally against my nature) i wanted to see one up close so i stepped on it and then picked it up and even though it was dead it stung me anyway. i've been terrified ever since. anything that can still hurt me once its dead is a thing to terrify.
the candle making is awesome though. my great grandpa used to keep bees. i never met him, but i hear lots of stories about it. and there were several bee houses near where my dad used to live in florida. the whole bee process is really NEAT. scary, but neat!

OH NOES NOW I HATEZ U N WILL NOT B UR FREIDN!

Joking.

Don't be terrified...bees can only sting once. It kills them! They don't use that weapon easily! They'd much rather be licking flowers.

yeah buts its that once that scares me. its a phobia and won't listen to reason. i tell you i am a funny sight to behold on a bad bee/wasp/etc... day. i'll run screaming and fling myself in the nearest body of water for protection and start thrashing about to scare them off. (this is even funnier when the water is very shallow and the river bed is sandstone, but slightly more painful than the actual bee sting) on a good day i can just close my eyes and mutter to myself about the scariness of bees. but i've had a lot of bad experiences with insects. like when i was three i backed into a pile of dirt nearly as tall as i was which turned out to be an ant bed, got covered head to toe in ants, don't like ants. and those movies from the seventies traumatized me for life, killer bees, and ants (the one where these people at a resort all die a death by being covered in ants) *shivers*
i don't run screaming if there's a few ants, but a lot of ants freak me out.

I beat a spider phobia. I started spinning wool into yarn...and you better bet spiders were interested in a human spinning. They popped up everywhere. So I educated myself about them, and how many "bad" bugs they eat, and that "you eat 3 spiders every year while you sleep" is a lie, or a guess, at best. And I met a black widow, and killed her since she had decided to live on the doorstoop, right where the kitties usually rubbed their heads.

I decided that I could take control of my fear and get rid of it...now they can crawl on me (sometimes) and I don't kill them, but blow them off of me, or get help to remove them. We have an understanding. If you are above my shoulders, you are dead.

i am working on it. especially for times when i have field work, hence the now sometimes being able to just close my eyes and mutter instead of running. which for me was a big step. most bugs don't stress me though and i'm friendly. hehe, when i was little my friends and i would build bug hotels and make like bedrooms and beds and swimming pools for them. (note: i don't think the y appreciated the swimming pools). and what's weird is if there's someone around more scared than me i can handle the bees/etc... i don't flip out.
which is cool because r defends me from the bees/wasps and i take care of everything else.
I LIKE spiders!!! i've always encouraged them to live in my windows or the high corners of my rooms since they eat other bugs and i think they're cute. it was with the understanding though that they don't bite me or mine, so the one that bit r had to go squish. i don't think he will let me keep one here now anymore :(

That DOES look close, but I'm not certain. Are they known to have mid air relations?
