Lets see here...its been a few days so I have to recall any previous events worth mentioning. My bass is only down to 2 strings now cause I broke the first the day I first got back from visiting Butte last and the other I broke a day or two ago practicing some slapping and popping. Those strings are only like 2 or 3 months old too. I think I need to find better strings that can take constant popping and slapping. Ive been working on a more Claypool-esque style of playing, and its a workout. Not so much like Harris riffs where you just play really fast and get tired, but Claypool moves around a lot more and you have to kind of multitask and play some notes at the same time. Also you have to do more hammering and the occasion tapping or muting. Still all in all those two are my favorite bassists. My top 5 favorite bands are probably Tool, Fear Factory, Children of Bodom, Primus, and...maybe Pink Floyd but the 5th im really torn about. The fifth place is always the hardest to choose cause there are so many bands tied for that position that I cant give an honest answer. It changes a lot too when I hear one of my fav. bands new albums or I just get into that zone where Im really addicted to a band or album for a while. I think I should go get my acoustic back from my neighbor tomorrow since he's had it for a while and I doubt he even plays much. If he wants it bad enough ill sell it to him for $100, good asking price if you ask me cause its a pretty decent acoustic for being a crappy brand that made it. Hennelly probably remembers those days of guitar fundamentals when we would just sit there with our guitars and bullshit all period and barely even play them unless the teacher was paying attention to us, which only happened once in a blue moon. That class made me hate playing my guitar, but im glad cause it gave me more incentive to play my bass more and probably lead in some way to where I am today skill wise. Ive only been playing for about a year and a half now but ive come a long way. Guitar just doesnt interest me anymore, it lacks the fun value that bass holds for me. If somebody were to hand me a guitar I would probably strum a few lines and then set it down unless I was super bored, but if they handed me a bass I would immediately start playing something random and just have fun grooving and then move into a song I know after im warmed up. Lets me see...I finished reading Odd Thomas many days ago and it was a very good book. I enjoyed it much more than ive ever enjoyed most books, so its definitely one of my favorites. I started reading another Dean Koontz book a few days ago, called Winter Moon. So far im only about 125 pages into it and the main story hasnt picked up yet, just a few happenings to various characters thats leading up to the main storyline but its still been decent so far. I wrote out maybe another page for that zombie book im working on. I can tell its going to be a very slow process, if only I had a bag of reefer. Then I would be lighting it up by myself and just typing away as the music played in the background. There was a time when I always smoked and I had never even wrote anything before while under the influence and all my work had been done sober, but after I tried it a few times some really good stuff came out. Then again I was usually around people so it was harder to concentrate and I felt like I was being rude if I would do it. I want to go very badly to the Staind, Seether, Three Days Grace, and Soil concert. All of those bands kick ass, and ive already seen Seether once so I know theyre good live. Im really looking forward to Staind in general, that is one of the greatest bands out there and their music is so emotionally charged that it just hits your core when you listen to it. I also was told by a friend that I should go to the next Tool concert with her. I dont know when or where it is but Im going even if I have to kill little children to do it. Lol. Tool is still the best band ive ever seen live, or for that matter the stage show they had. While the members never moved around much or anything the props and various effects they had were top notch and almost over the top. It was more than well worth the money I paid for it. God they sound so perfect live, and damn that was the loudest concert ive ever been to. Ahhh the good memories. Its cool reflecting on some of the good old times you had, as long as you dont dwell on them that is. Too much dwelling on the past and the present will leave you in the dust while the future zooms right by you. Damn im ranting so Im stopping here. Later players
