Better summary of work

Jul 15, 2006 13:16

I typed this all up in a message to my friend Victoria, and figured that I might as well copy and paste it here, on the off-off-off chance that anyone is actually semi-interested. And for future self-reference, if I'm ever bored and thinking about past work experiences, I suppose...

-------

First day of work... Was okay. I hate the phone, it's scary, even in normal life, right? Well, of course, they start me off as operator.

"Thank you for calling Target. This is Crystal. Can I help you find something?" ... "One moment please. I'll put you on hold and transfer you to someone who can answer that question." ... "Electronics, you have a call on line 35. Electronics, 35."

And I have to repeat it SO many times for the Electronics guys, 'cause they NEVER answer. Grr.

I'm also the one who had to do the whole "the store is now closing" announcement-thingy over the PA. That... was horrifying, but at least there was close to nobody left in the store.

Anyways, besides that... I hate zoning. It has come to my attention that I am absolutely horrible at folding jeans. I'll have to ask Jordan (my trainer) to teach me to do it the right way, 'cause mine didn't match up with all the others.

And the guys from hardlines (electronics, furniture, sporting, etc.) were such jerks at closing! Two of them got right to work helping us zone our clothes, and the other three just sat down on the counter, watched us work, and complained about how slow we were!

All in all, though... It's okay, I suppose. I think I'd like working in Electronics better, but I guess there's always the chance that I'll get transferred later on. And even though I think I'm going to hate this, I could be wrong. I have to give it a couple of weeks before I can really make up my mind, right?

target, work, stress
