(no subject)
So, got a call from my mom this evening. It would seem that my grandmother passed away last night. :(
It wasn't completely unexpected, she's been in and out of the hospital a few times recently and just had surgery about two weeks ago. However, none of it was related to the kidney failure which appears to be what she died from. Well, none but when she went in on Friday. She had a long life and I clearly recall the times we were together. She'd come to visit us every summer, and while growing up I would often spend a week with her during the summer when I visited my dad in California. She had a little motor home that we'd take out on trips and had a grand old time, except I could never get used to her putting Grape Jelly on Mac n' Cheese...
Anyway, in her older years she was slipping in a dementia laden world of her own and I guess the place she was staying just didn't have the staffing to stay with her while she ate, make sure she drank enough water, etc. I'll always remember her from the good times we had and let the recent memories fade away...
