If you're out of butter, you shouldn't really substitute vegetable oil in recipes. And if you do, one cup of oil doesn't equal three teaspoons of butter. Makes things come out kinda with the consistency of crude oil instead of a solid, and kind of looks like coffee ground emesis. At least most of the oil eventually rises to the top and can be poured off, though it never quite solidifies unless you leave it in the freezer overnight. then you have oily peanut butter lumpy ice cycles.
