This is not an extensive list, mainly just a few things that spring to mind. If anyone cares.... :)
1. I believe in universal healthcare. I grew up with universal healthcare - its nothing to be afraid of. Its not a perfect system but it works better than what we have just now. I'd rather pay 2 cents more in city taxes than have a $30 hike in health insurance premiums which is what the city of Dallas is facing.
2. I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. I think the Bible has some very specific things to say on that issue. But I understand that there are millions of people in this country and the rest of the world who believe differently from me and for a nation that prides itself on the separation of church and state, then it needs to live up to that. Legally, I dont think we have grounds to withold the right of marriage from those that don't believe the same as we do ("we" being general christian society) especially in the so called land of the free. Homosexuality is in my mind, unscriptural..but then so is DIVORCE (unless for adultery) and we don't see many (or in my mind, enough) Republicans outraged by divorce these days - otherwise they would *not* be voting for McCain who has a pretty nasty, unscriptural divorce in his background. If you allow divorce by law, then the same goes for the universal right to marry. Anything less makes you a hypocrite. And Texas - if its such a big deal, get your entire Republican Supreme Court to actually do something about it (the TX supreme court is entirely Republican right now). You see...people are quick to quote the Bible when it comes to supporting you government when for example, they decide to go to war...but would the same allegience to the government and the law of the land apply when it comes to issues such as gay marriage. Not for the Republicans I know, but they'll turn a blind eye to that preacher who ditched his wife.... Just sayin'.
3. Sarah Palin. C'mon ladies. All that "hockey mom" crap. Do you honestly think she will be looking after her kids while she is in the White House? I think not....and she better not be either, if, heaven forbid, she becomes VP then I want her to actually *do* her job and not run a daycare at the same time. She'll be paying a babysitter to look after her kids like every other working mom, when in my mind, she should be taking the time to care for her down syndrome baby rather than ditching him in daycare while she tries to be a big shot. And why is it that Bristol Palin is a mature girl, taking responsibility for her actions in keeping her baby and marrying the father while Jamie Lynn Spears is a skanky, white trash ho? Palin needs to back to Alaska and stay there, that women has no idea how to run a country (and by the looks of things, her household, call me judgemental if you want, I don't care). If we want an insular, inept USA like we had before 9/11 then Palin is your lady. And lets get real, this election is about her, not McCain. If you want that kind of job, you have make sacrifices when it comes to family, I think its impossible to have both, as least as far as infants are concerned.
4. I am very much pro-life but I realize all those screaming against abortion better be the hell ready to adopt some unwanted babies.
5. I care about the planet. And so did the Democrats, long before the Republicans did. Yeah...lets just sit around pretend that Global warming isnt even real...Not to mention that we are now paying what the rest of the world pays when it comes to gas. Poor us.
There's more but my hand hurts from typing.
