I never had the opportunity to see you on a zoomer, so I cannot say how your skills compare between the two...but you certainly caught on to Kras racing quickly.
[It helps that, if you're Mar, you supposedly (most likely) invented the sport.
...Dude that means Razer was an influence in the creation of combat racing. Fuck yes.]

[No response via comm, Razer is already on his way down. He does want to gauge Jak's abilities with a car at the present moment, given that he hasn't had half the practice as the Jak he knew.
Most of Jak's wins were based on talent, though--that isn't something you can account for, really. The kid is a natural and that seems to mean everyone else is fucked. And not even in the fun way.
Still, Razer steps out of the elevator and onto deck twenty with a cigarette in hand, taking a drag on his way over to meet Jak.]
Picked anything worthwhile yet, or would you like a recommendation?

[Jak's been picking through the options on the computer panel, and selected a low, sleek Javelin X as his vehicle of choice. It might not have the top speed of all the car options, but it's stylish and a hell of a lot more attractive than his old Sand Shark.
Straightening up as Razer enters, he automatically waits for Daxter's sassy commentary ... which doesn't come. Hmm. He glances at the ottsel, then presses the button on the control panel to bring up the car.]

[Razer grins.]
My my, if it isn't your old standby. This was always your favorite back in Kras as well--although I do believe you had it outfitted in blue.
[He comes over to the panel, shooting Daxter a look as he passes--"mouth shut, eyes down, ears back and I won't say a word"--and keys in the familiar arrangement to bring up his Havoc, then again to mod it properly to his vehicle back home. He phases the car into existence, then glances between it and the Javelin.
They're extremely similar, although they do have different manufacturers and are ranked at different levels. Razer's is a Class 3 vehicle, Jak's rides the border between Classes 1 and 2--but if modded and manipulated properly, could easily overtake the Havoc's twelve cylinder engine.
It's funny how perfectly the vehicles match their drivers, at least this time around.]
Since you are the challenger, I'll acquiesce to your choice of tracks--this time. We will just have to see how the races go from here.
[The urge to snap back with something sharp and biting -a retort commenting on Razer's "obviously" sub-par racing skills, probably- grows but beneath it bubbles something dark. And Daxter hunkers down on Jak's shoulder, half of him seething and the other half just plain nervous.]
Re: [commentlog]shadesofecoDecember 15 2009, 06:19:05 UTC
[Jak's been around Daxter since he was a kid, he can read him like a book. And the way his fur bristles and his claws dig into his shoulder, he knows Daxter is mad at something. Jostling his shoulder lightly, he murmurs to him.]
Relax, Dax. You know I'll win.
[It's not about winning, but clearly Razer has Daxter's back up, and a victory might help unruffle his fur.
Eyeing Razer's vehicle choice, Jak nods in approval. Not nearly as sleek at aesthetically pleasing as the Javelin, it was still an impressive looking car, heavily armored and clearly a powerful machine.]
Don't think I'll go easy on you.
[Jak selects the track drop-down menu and picks out the mountaintop track; tight turns, winding roads, sudden drops and dark tunnels. Dangerous, and a risky track for the high speeds they're planning. Just how he likes it.
And just to make things interesting ... He smirks at Razer, then hits the selection for a Death Race.]
[commentlog]farfairersoulDecember 15 2009, 06:27:58 UTC
Perfect.
[His voice is low and confident, as though he has no reason to concern whatsoever with the possibility that Jak could beat him. In actuality Razer needs this race, needs to test Jak's skills and read into his flaws, learn how to target and amplify them until the boy can't even place third.
It wouldn't be enough to make up for Kras, but beating him here would certainly help ease Razer's still-bruised ego, not to mention give him something to tell Erol about. The fact that he isn't certain he'll make the win isn't an unpleasant sensation at all, but Razer does his best to ignore the pleasure of that particular thrill.]
Of course, Jak. No point racing--
[He comes around Jak to move toward his vehicle, reaching up to put one hand to the young man's shoulder as he passes, running long fingers down his arm before he can pull away.]
--if we do not mean it, hm?
[He flicks his cigarette away and climbs into his vehicle.]
[commentlog]shadesofecoDecember 15 2009, 06:41:52 UTC
Dax, wait at the finish line and call the winner.
[Not that Jak doesn't want Daxter racing with him, but it is a Death Race in an unfamiliar vehicle, and if Razer's as good as he boasts, then Jak might actually have his work cut out in beating him.
He slips into the car and settles back in the seat, feeling out the controls. It's low-set, well designed and comfortable. And for all its aesthetic appeal, it's got a strong cage in case of crashes. Perfect.
Tugging up his scarf and pulling down his goggles, Jak revs the engine, then looks across at Razer. Ready when you are.]

Hadn't thought about it.

Do you prefer zoomers, then?
[Stated like the very thought is almost offensive.]

[Zoomers are just familiar for now. He's definitely been eyeing up the cars though, that Javelin X is looking mighty tempting.]

With you and I it is rarely a "little" race, Jak. But I would be happy to meet you on the track, if that is what you mean.

I'll see you there.

Almost.
But his connections to Mizo...and what Mizo had on him-
Daxter fell silent.]
