Wah, in the past, oh, five or so hours our heater has managed to warm the house from 60 to 61 degrees. While being set to 65, and then, in exasperation, at 70. This does not bode well, especially as that one degree might be attributed to the space heater and the stove that were both on.
Speaking of the stove, besides just doing my best imitation of a poor little match girl, I made apple sauce tonight! For the first time ever! And despite the texture not being quite what I'd want (either cooked too long, or used too much water, I think), and realizing that hey, we have no sugar and it could use some towards the end and frantically rummaging around to find something to substitute (apricot nectar--ended up not being a horrible idea), it doesn't suck!
