Finally got around to scanning some of my favorite drawings from the past few life drawing sessions.
I keep waffling between being in awe of the beauty of the human form, and thinking that we look really fucking weird. Especially knees.
This week I decided to be daring and do a couple of the longer drawings (15-20 minutes, as opposed to 3 minutes) in marker and brush pen. I like the effect, but it's a bit nerve wracking.
Case in point, this one has a pretty high level of fuckup, but I still like it overall. The pale grey marker is the first pass, and yeah, you see where her knees started out? But, I think it's kind of neat to see the history of a drawing sometimes. There's this one still life that I did my first year of college of this head of lettuce and some radishes. It took me a week. This setup was sitting on my desk in my dorm for a week. It's in pen and ink/ink wash, so you can see that the veggies were significantly plumper at the start than at the finish. Being a bit of an idiot (again, freshman!), I honestly hadn't realized that would happen.
I think these were all somewhere between 15-45 minute sketches.
