So, I finished reading Corambis, by Sarah Monette this week, which is the last book what I think is getting my vote as one of my all time favorite fantasy series. I utterly adore the author's writing style, and if I was less tired I'd give more specific reasons
but hey, there's some of her short stories here. And I was all like 'I should now reread the first three books', except, when I pulled Melusine off the shelf I remembered how much the cover has always kinda irked me. I have Issues with photo manips that are mostly bitchy and technical, but I've been wanting to redo the cover for my copy for a while...and well, this is me trying to justify spending my weekend on a piece of fan art instead of something productive. Like, this got seriously out of control. It was supposed to be a quick sketch, with some photo texture, and yeah.
But it was a hell of a lot of fun to play around with an image--usually there's a pretty set style I have to be aiming for, so it was nice to do something a bit different.
A detail.
