Painter is such a strange program sometimes. Part of it is that I imprinted on Photoshop back when I was first learning this whole digital art thing, and I still expect menus to follow the Adobe standard. It's been a while since I've been forced out of my comfort zone as far exploring what Painter can do, for instance, I've never tried to use its pen tool before. That's what Illustrator is for. It actually handles pretty well, better that PS, especially now that I've figured out how to group layers, but why oh why are all the shapes embossed? I cannot think of a single instance where I'd want this feature as a default, and yet I can't seem to turn it off. My stupid rabbit doesn't need to have a teeny tiny drop shadow and highlight on all of its edges that shows through all of the layers on top of it. Really.

Also, I'm trying to use my new computer more. I've never had a computer as long as my desktop, all of my previous ones kind of imploded, and I wasn't using computers in general as extensively for like, everything, when I had them. Moving house is a lot of work! Today, I decided to go through my fonts and install the ones that my new computer doesn't have. Apparently I go browsing through typeface websites a little more often than I thought, because it ended up being over 150, most of which I've never used for anything. And since this is a laptop, I'm keeping my old monitor because IMHO LCD screens suck ass for doing anything where color matters. Dunno how well having two monitors hooked up at once is going to go though. I'm trying it right now, and while it's really nice to have Painter open on one, and everything else shoved out of the way on the other my tablet speed is kinda wacky. It's faster than I'm used to, because hey, twice the area to cover and I'm not sure if it's something I'll be able to learn to compensate for. Maybe I can set it so that it'll only work on one screen and totally confuse myself; it's bad enough remembering which keyboard to use.

Anyways, I'm sure that was totally enthralling, so if you've made it this far, have a link to the awesomeness that's this! The only way she could be better is if she had wings.
