Agent of SHIELD? (RP for oracle_bop)
This happens after Jean gets back from Paris and meets with Colossus, but before she goes BACK to Paris and to Amsterdam with Bruce
Jean hadn't been looking forward to this, but she knew that dealing with SHIELD would be a necessary evil in establishing a new X-men team. Not collaborating with SHIELD. She'd made that pretty clear in her last conversation with Tony. Thanks to the Office of National Emergency, the X-men operated under separate jurisdiction, and ought to have a freer rein. At least, that was the theory. Jean was banking on her personal influence with Tony Stark as an asset in getting the powers to see things her way.
So, when she got to the helicarrier and requested a personal audience with the Director, she didn't expect a blank look.
"I'm Jean Grey? Of the X-men? I'm Tony's friend, Jean Grey, and we have an appointment."
"Director Stark is in Madripoor."
Jean's jaw dropped. "With ninjas?"
"On vacation, actually," the agent said icily. Whether she was angry at Jean for asking, Tony for going, or Tony (again) for not taking her, Jean couldn't tell. "Oh wait," she said, catching somehting on the agenda. "He has arranged for you to meet with a new agent. . . Oracle? Yes, Agent Oracle."
Oracle, Jean repeated to herself, and as she walked toward the office, she expected to see some kind of precognitive superhuman, even an alien, maybe. But she stopped in the doorway as she saw a young woman about her own age, seated in front of a computer terminal. Another redhead even. Cute, Tony, she thought. Real cute. "Agent Oracle," Jean said, trying to keep her voice crisp. "I suppose you're the highest ranking person not on vacation with Director Stark?"
