Her voice may be gone, her vision is back with the side-effect of sensitivity to light and headaches, but she's not letting any of that get her ( Read more... )

Thank you very much. You were very kind, with the gifts you gave me.

[Hers to Ginia? A couple extra notepads and nice pens she's practical for use outside the Luceti journals.]

It's the least I could do, Ami. Hope you don't mind the coloring book, I saw it and couldn't resist.

[Extra journals and pens are always loved. Note takers gotta take notes.]

No, I thought it was a very nice gift. [She'd probably say this even if it was old, dirty socks; but it's true in this case.] Thank you for thinking of me.

Of course. It's what friends do.

Having a nice Christmas?

[She has to wonder: If she was home, would she be able to spend it with Mama?]

I'm glad to hear that. It's really become quite nice around here. All is well.

[For now. She's not easygoing enough to assume the malnosso won't do something, or the third party won't attack, or any of a number of things that seem to come to disrupt the peace regularly.

But she'll be ready.]

Mm. Let's enjoy this time while we have it.

I fully agree.

Can you believe we're coming up on another year?

I went home for awhile, for a few years even, so it doesn't feel like I've been here as long as I know I've spent here.

But it still feels too long, sometimes.

Time. Such a tricky little thing.

I'm coming up on six months. Not much compared to everyone else, I know, but it's still also six months of my life. I've been here longer then anywhere else I've been over the last seven years.

I've been here two years, all together. It's a little like leaving to study abroad again. [Except without the chance of coming back for visits...]
