[Ginia's helping herself to a bowl of cereal when there's a meow and a sudden tail tickling her face. Her first inclination is Edna somehow escaped the apartment, but as she pets the cat, she realizes it's a smaller cat and the meows are different. Orenji? Ah, that makes sense, what with his very odd teleporting ways. Gently scooping the cat back ( Read more... )

Yeah. We... we had some things in common, and he was my neighbor. Was because I ended up moving in with friends, but... no. Was.

I'm sorry. It never gets any easier. If there's anything I can do-

[ hang on. it suddenly hits her: ] You're speaking... [ hermione, you haven't been in ron's presence long enough to lose your tact filter, have you? ]

It never does get easier to lose friends, but sometimes distractions can help.

I'm speaking. Malnosso kidnapped me, gave me a voice, but took my eyesight.

[And getting back on topic...]

Thank you, Hermione, I appreciate that. [And thank you for having an easily distinguishable voice too.] At least I have a cat for company. Cute little guy.

Oh... Well that's... good and bad, I suppose. [ there is just no winning with them, is there? ]

A cat? I had one at one point. I wonder if he'd turn up here again. Well, he was really part cat and part Kneazle, but he looked like a cat and was very intelligent. He knew who our friends were better than we did.

Always seems to be how it goes around here. At least this is temporary.

A Kneazle?

Very true.

[ oh dear ginia... you had to ask. ] They're a feline-type of creature taking on the appearance of a cat with a rather squashed face. They're highly intelligent, though, able to determine friend from foe quite easily and even understand words to a point. They have thick fur and a large plumed tail, not unlike a lion's. And, actually, the Ministry of Magic requires that a witch or wizard have a license if they own full-Kneazles. I was lucky. Crookshanks was only part.

[Why yes, she did have to ask because knowledge is a wonderful, wonderful thing.]

I see! That's very interesting. It's fascinating the sort of creatures you can find across different worlds. I'm sure Crookshanks will turn up in time, especially if he's been here before.

Yes, I find it fascinating as well. I wonder if Kneazles have anything similar in other worlds.

I wouldn't be surprised. My world is lacking in any magic or magical creatures, but there are stories in ancient mythology and cultural representations of similar creatures. The sphinx from Egypt in addition to Bast and Sekhmet, the bakeneko or nekomata in Japanese folklore, the Cat Sìth from Celtic mythology.

Oh, yes, I've read about all of those. They exist in my world. Actually, there was a sphinx in the Triwizard Tournament, I believe. Or was supposed to have been. They like riddles-

[ hermione, not the point. ]

Reading about all of them is very fascinating, though.

Really? I think it would be fascinating to be able to talk with a sphinx. And the Triwizard Tournament? What's that? [May not be the point, but curious minds can become easily distracted minds.]

As long as it's not guarding something I believe they're all right. [ hey. ginia is in good hands! and good company. ]

It's a tournament that was once held once every few years and only recently reinstated. It's called the Triwizard Tournament because of the three schools participating. Eligible students from all three schools write their name and school name on a piece of paper and place the paper in the Goblet of Fire. At the end of the day, the Goblet chooses one champion from each school to represent that school. The champions then compete in grueling trials to win the Triwizard Cup. It's actually been rather dangerous. I'm not fond of it.

[ considering what happened at the one she saw... who can really blame her? ]

It sounds very interesting. I take the trials are tests of one's physical and mental strength and abilities?

Yes. They can be extremely dangerous. The first task of the most recent tournament involved fight a dragon.
