[Accidental Video]

[There's a blur of motion and pages as the journal falls through the air and lands on the ground, a leather book bag and some other notebooks landing nearby. Within the camera's view is Ginia, holding a bag of groceries, backed against a building, and watching something (or somethings) calmly out of view. With care, she slowly ( Read more... )

[Community Building 7 is still well in view when the environment around Ginia changes. For about twenty or thirty feet in all directions radiating out from her point on the path, she'll suddenly find herself in what appears to be a small town in Germany. People are everywhere, running in terror or pursuing like predators. It's the dead of night, the only light is from the flickering of distant fires that haven't actually crossed into this scenario.

Some of the people are most decidedly not right. As they chase their targets, Ginia will be able to see that their faces are twisted and monstrous - ridged brows overhanging a pair of gleaming yellow eyes, with fangs bared and bloodstained.]

[Not good. Definitely not good. The moment day turns into night, Ginia is on high alert, quickly taking in all the chaos and moving quickly to the nearest shelter. Monstrous, bloody faces, fangs, her mind fits in all the details as she rushes into a house and locks and barricades the door with some chairs.

First step, finding weapons. Ginia runs toward the kitchen and begins searching for some knives to use, still keeping her eyes and ears out for anyone that may be coming toward the house or already in it.]

[Ginia won't be left waiting long. After about two minutes, something hits the door hard enough to splinter it, regardless of the chairs. Two bodies collapse inside in a heap.

The body furthest from Ginia will, upon closer inspection, prove to be Giles. Upon even closer inspection, he will turn out to be bleeding. Closer inspection might have to wait until she's dealt with the second body, however, which has blood around its mouth and the same monstrous face. In all other respects? It's a woman about her age that looks as though it's been beaten to within an inch of its life.]

[The kitchen proves fruitful enough when it comes to improvised weaponry. Several steak knives, two carving knives, and a knife sharpener are secured along with some oranges and apples from a fruit basket. When the door bursts open, Ginia approaches carefully, carving knife in hand.

Her gaze goes over to the first person, too far away to see any details. Male, perhaps. However, the closer body draws her immediate attention. Common thugs and oversized bugs are one thing. A vampire is something else entirely. But all her training remains strong and she takes a deep breath as her grip on her knife tightens. It doesn't matter it's another woman. Hell, considering how everything else has been disappearing upon "death", what she does won't even matter. Right now is a matter of survival.

Chest, throat, eyes, knees, ankles. Ginia ticks off the weak spots and targets as she drops into a fighting stance, carefully watching the vampire and anticipating the first move.]

[The vampire is slightly dazed with the impact of the fall. She shakes her head, trying to clear it. It's the scent of blood that first catches her attention - at first, it almost looks as though she's going to turn her back on Ginia just to continue her meal.

But the glint of steel catches her attention. For a moment, the surveys Ginia critically. Then, with an unpleasantly organic sound of shifting muscle and bone, the demon faces retracts to show the human, shaken and scared but still with blood around her mouth.

She shakes her head, staring pleadingly at Ginia.]

Please...don't...

[The figure behind the vampire is stirring, struggling back to its feet.]

[Her reaction is to take a step away, but Ginia holds her ground as the features of the vampire give way to a human face and expression. The pleading desperation in her voice, it stirs up memories in her mind and for a second, Ginia isn't in a German town misplaced in Luceti, she's back home in her own world.

She's staring down her mark, gun drawn, watching him or her beg for their lives.

'Spare me! Please!'

'I won't do it again, just let me go!'

'I didn't mean to kill her!'

The moment lasts only a second as Ginia comes back to reality. Grip tightening on her knife, she rushes the woman, driving the blade as deep into the woman's chest as it'll go, seeking out the heart or whatever is inside and pushing metal through flesh and muscle.]

[The woman snarls in agony as the metal pierces her chest, human face becoming demonic again in the span of a second. She stumbles, bringing a hand up to clutch the hilt of the knife. The other is brought around in a hard left cross to the face with every ounce of the demon's supernatural strength behind it.]

[Ginia releases the knife hilt and ducks away and turns her face away, missing the full impact of fist to face but instead catching the blow on the side of her head. It's like a brick to the skull and she stumbles back, head throbbing. But she forces herself to ignore the pain as she pulls the other knives out of her bag, staring the vampire down and bracing herself for the next attack. Right. If not the chest, then the throat and eyes.]

[Ginia won't have time to contemplate long. There's the soft, wet sound of a sharp point piercing equally soft flesh. The vampires goes rigid, mouth open in the beginnings of a scream, before collapsing in a cloud of dust.

Giles will be revealed behind her, coughing faintly. A wooden stake is in one hand, the other is clamped over the side of his neck.]

[Oh thank god. As much as Ginia likes to think she could have gone toe-to-toe with her first vampire, she's deeply grateful for Giles' timely intervention. The knives go back into her bag and she picks up the other knife from the floor as she crosses over to Giles.

But even as glad as she is to see him, she remains cautious and holds onto her knife, waiting to see if he's a vampire or someone else she might have proceed to stab until dead or otherwise disappeared.

Once things are otherwise established, first aid procedures can begin.]

R-Right idea...

[Kind of swaying now. Casting a way glance to the door before limping towards the kitchen, still without moving his hand from his neck or lowering the stake very much.]

...wrong implement.

Decapitation takes too long.

[Noted for the near future. Ginia grabs one of the remaining kitchen chairs left and pulls it over to Giles. Sticking her knife into the bag, handle sticking out for easy access, she searches around the kitchen for any makeshift medical supplies, turning up some paper towels and a few dish towels.]

[Giles takes the dish towel...and, against his better judgment, he does take a seat. Woozy, so very woozy.]

Welcome to Hanselstadt. I'm just glad you only seem to have wandered into a small part of it.

The owner of this house is dead. More will be coming.

[Ginia gives him a wry smile at the little introduction to the place, taking out her notepad and quickly scrawling out a message.]

After I get you patched up, what's the plan? Move somewhere safer or barricade ourselves in?

Move somewhere safer. This house most certainly isn't safe.

...we, we won't be able to communicate by writing out there. Not, not really. It's very dark, unless you feel like using a fire for light.

I don't suppose you know sign language, Ginia?

[There's a short pause as Ginia stares at him, facepalms, then sheepishly signs back. This would have made so many other conversations easier.]

/Yes, I do. If I'd know earlier, no, never mind. I'm going to raid the bathroom for medical supplies./
