Headcanon :: All Verses

May 05, 2011 01:27

This is what happens when I have too much time on my hand.

Ten pieces of headcanon that apply to all verses and eventually five (or maybe ten if I'm feeling ambitious) for all her verses.

[10 Facts About Ginia :: All Verses]

1. Ginia doesn't have a real driver's license in any state or country. While her parents did teach her how to drive, because public transportation in Davenport was pretty solid and the family bar was downstairs, there was never a need for her to actually drive. After become a freelancer/point man, because of the need to cover her tracks and disappear as needed, she never tested for a driver's license and thus her current license (or licenses as she has multiples) is a fake one. With that said, she's a good driver whether it's a car or a motorcycle, though she is a bit of a speedster.

2. Ginia takes her tea the same way her mother did; a spoonful of honey or two spoonfuls of sugar. She drinks coffee the same way as her brother and sister; with lots of cream and sugar. She only drinks black coffee when she's pulling all-nighters or powering through a hangover.

3. There's a safety deposit box in New York City that has the following: the black dance shoes she wore at her last performance; two large photo albums, several pictures missing, damaged, or destroyed from the fire; one bar menu; a black notebook containing some of her father's personal cocktail recipes; Erika's personal Glock 19; several sets of jewelry belonging to her mother and sister; one of Amelia's personal design books; and her mother's engagement ring on a silver chain.

(The ring only differs in one verse. In Her New York City Blanc was given the ring from their mother, but then gave it to Jean so he could use it to propose to Ginia. She now wears the ring on a silver chain and wears another ring given to her by Jean.)

4. While Ginia does have a variety of aliases with full backgrounds that go back five years each, the reason she tends to stick to her real name with employers is because the people that do work with her are smart enough to stay hidden and she covers her associations very well. Other than that, everyone she cares about is already dead. Her past is also no real secret (just the details) since it was reported on in the city's newspaper and thus in public domain. The fact she's mute is also pretty distinguishable enough so there's almost no point.

5. The reason Ginia can throw out random factoids about name meanings and origins is because once she was really bored and decided to read a baby name book from front to back. She didn't memorize the whole book because that would be ridiculous, but the popular and interesting names are the ones she remembers. A lot of the random information she knows now comes from a childhood of eclectic reading and, more recently, browsing Wikipedia in her spare time.

6. While it's true Ginia tends to fall more on the side of flings and one-night stands because her job gives her little time for proper dating and she's far too worried about hurting others, there's been one man she was genuinely in love with. His name was Evan Granger and he was a deaf cook at a restaurant. The two hit it off spectacularly and dated for several months, during that time he taught her several recipes and passed on his knowledge of wine while she taught him everything she knew about cocktails. Ultimately, Evan received the opportunity to work and learn in Paris. While he did ask Ginia to come with him, she ultimately declined, feeling she would only hold him back. So she let him go and buried her feelings away. They've since fallen out of contact (she knows she could easily find him; she chooses not to).

7. Ginia is fully fluent in four languages; English, American Sign Language, Italian, and Spanish. English and ASL came about the same time as an obvious means of communication, she learned Italian from her mother, then later learned Spanish as it was easy enough to pick up. German came later due to Erika, though it's mostly useful phrases and a lot of swear words and curses.

(Mandarin Chinese is the same way due to Cynthia's influence, then in Predators and Prey, Japanese is taught to her by Shinohara and Tetsuo. She's also learning French from Jean in Her New York City and from Lamè in Predators and Prey.)

8. The most prominent scars Ginia has are the ones ranging from her shoulders down to mid-back. These are a mixture of burn scars (second degree) and cuts (from being smashed against broken glass repeatedly) and the reason Ginia often wears things that cover her back. On the rare occasion she wears something backless, there's usually a lot of make up or some other kind of covering (latex prosthesis).

Other notable scars include: a stab scar on the left side of her stomach, roughly two inches; scratches up her left wrist (failed suicide attempt); scar on her right thigh from a knife. There are other minor scars from the usual bumps and scrapes and such across her torso, arms, and legs, but the above are the only ones I keep track of.

9. There are two people Ginia's killed that she admits were cases of overkill. The first was the man that attacked, raped, and tortured her mother, a petty drug dealer and thug. She emptied an entire clip into him in a berserk rage. The next two days were spent in a state of catatonic shock that had Erika worried for her health before she snapped out of things.

The second was the person who attacked, raped, and tortured her sister, a junkie who came along for the promise of money. He was stabbed thirteen times before she slashed his throat. Erika took her on vacation to the Bahamas for a week after that.

The scary part is those were both committed by Ginia, not Alice.

(The fate of the third person varies. In her hunter verses, she kills him with a gunshot to the chest. In her Inception verses, she sends him down to Limbo; he still hasn't woken up. The fourth person, Braddock, is still alive much to her displeasure and annoyance.)

10. There are four days that make Ginia generally introspective and a bit detached: March 27th, the day Erika was killed; April 10th, Erika's birthday (though Erika pulled a long con by convincing just about everyone her birthday was April 1st); November 7th, the day her family was murdered; and November 22nd, Avery (Blanc) and Amelia's birthday. On the 27th and 10th, she mourns her friend with a glass of whisky. On the 7th and 22nd, she has red wine in their memory.

If visiting the respective graves is a possibility, she pours a bottle of Jack Daniels on Erika's grave and leaves an unwrapped chocolate bar. For her family, she pours a bottle of red wine and leaves a bouquet of roses on each grave.

[Five Facts About Ginia :: Predators and Prey]

1. Ginia donates money, toys, and school supplies anonymously to Sir Thomas Lancing School. She figures it's the least she can do after stealing Cadogan away, she has a soft spot for kids, and it's not like she needs the money anyway. She does everything anonymously because she doesn't want any of her potential enemies to see the school as something that can be used against her and because she doesn't like making a big deal out of things.

2. While the interior remains untouched, Ginia has a custom leather shell over the metal case of her PASIV device to make it look more like a leather briefcase. The PASIV device itself used to belong to Erika, but Ginia has always taken care of it.

3. Evan Brown, her former forger, is the only person who knows where she is at all times. He always knows her current location and if she's going into a dangerous area, she checks in with him via phone twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). In the event a check in is missed, he'll send an encrypted message to her phone. If a reply isn't given, he'll contact her present team or track her down himself. Ginia does the same for him in return.

4. Ginia owns property in the following locations: An estate in Venice, the one she always wanted to give her mother but never could; two apartments in Tokyo (one provided by Proclus Global, another one bought by herself as a private retreat); an apartment in New York City near Central Park; a house in Los Angeles; a house in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and the apartment she used to share with Erika in Davenport, Massachusetts. She thought about buying the lot her family's bar and apartment used be on, but the whole area has since been renovated.

(Side note: Davenport is a fictional city. While there are several Davenports in the U.S., none of them exist as I imagine it to be. Would it have been easier to place Ginia in a real city? Yes, but city building is so much fun.)

5. Ginia faked her death in Bruges and in Perth, though under aliases. It might not have been so bad if she hadn't been “engaged” to a politician in Bruges and “assassinated” before the wedding. It's a situation she doesn't like to talk about.

Perth was the less complicated situation of faking a car crash and explosion in order to shake an ex-employer.
