1. Pick a character, fandom, pairing, friendship, whatever.
2. Put on your music program on shuffle/random and start playing songs.
3. For each song, write something inspired by the song related to the theme you chose earlier. You only have the song length. No pre-planning and no writing after the song is over. No skipping songs either.
4. Do 10 songs and post. Make sure to include the song name/artist.
Writing quality? Probably pretty bad. Logic and sense? Non-existent. Fun to do? Heck yeah.
1.
Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man (Bookshop Sessions) Ginia idly twirls her phone around on one corner, glancing at the unread message begging to be answered. She knows who it's from - Shinohara - and she has an inkling what it might say - “I'm not angry” “Can we talk” “Talk to me” or any combination of - but she has no inclination to answer it.
She has no answers, no words for him at this time. All thoughts are at a standstill at this time and it irritates her because she hates not having answers.
Her phone vibrates as another message comes in, also from Shinohara, the text box asking whether or not she wants to read it. Her thumb hovers over “reply” before she sighs and shuts off her phone.
2.
The Killers - Sam's Town (Abbey Road Version) Even after having traveled across the world and visited six out of the seven continents, Ginia realizes her heart is still back in Davenport. Simple, small city Davenport, her often forgotten home.
Because under ideal situations, had things not gone the way they had, she never would have left it in the first place.
3.
Coldplay - Talk There are times when Ginia wonders if she's a fool for forgiving Avery-Blanc. He put them through hell and ran without any intention of coming back. He only came around because of happenstance and coincidence, came back into her life because the tiles of life had fallen a certain way.
But he is her brother and even as much as he's hurt her, as much of a hell he's put her through, she can't ignore that. Family is important, family means a lot, and even if she doesn't quite get it herself, she can't bring herself to hate him.
Braddock is someone she hates. Braddock is someone she loathes and despises and would gladly dance on his grave given the chance.
Blanc? He's been through enough already and doesn't need to be punished by her. His own guilt is enough for that.
And truthfully, she's glad to have him back. It's nice having someone she can really talk with.
4.
Tiger Lou - The Loyal Blind loyalty is something Ginia doesn't comprehend. It's something she knows and can understand on a base level, but the idea of blindly following someone without question goes against all her senses. Her need for freedom and questioning nature mostly, but also her pride.
She can't imagine being a lap dog for anyone.
5.
Muse - Uprising Nothing last forever, all things must eventually fade.
An empire is only as strong as its leader. A building is only as strong as its base. Cut off the head and the body with die.
As Braddock accepts his position as police chief of Davenport, all smiles and charm as he steps up onto the podium, Ginia shuts off the television with disgust.
If things could only be so simple.
6.
Melissa Etheridge - Breathe Ginia's not sure when she fell in love with Evan or if it's even love. She's willing to recognize it as a deep and steady affection and concern for him that goes far beyond a close friendship and partnership. She wants to be with Evan, to take care of him and see him smiling, to banish away his dark moments or at least silently support him as he works through them.
But while she's uncertain when it happened, there is one thing she is certain about; Evan will never love her. She knows quite well he's too emotionally damaged for that and while he may care about her as friends do, he'll never love her because he doesn't understand and feel it. And that is a wall that will never come down.
7.
A Silent Film - Julie June -Yep. Absolutely nothing on this one. Failure.-
8.
The Bravery - Believe “I don't know how long I'll be able to do this,” Ginia confides in Lucian one day as she walks through his design. It's a beautiful classic Japanese castle with modern elements and she admires the detailed wood carvings adorning the walls.
“Don't be an idiot. You'll be doing this for the rest of your life,” Lucian remarks back with a devilish grin, swapping out a jade dragon for a wood tiger.
“What makes you say that?”
“Because you are not a quitter, your have a brilliant mind, and I believe in you.”
Ginia laughs quietly and leans in to give him a quick hug. “I pay your faith isn't misplaced.”
9.
Sunset Boulevard - Sunset Boulevard Ginia stares out of the window of her new office in the headquarters of Proclus Global. There's a beautiful view of Tokyo and she finds herself often gazing out and admiring the view. But at night, behind the neon of the streets, she can see her reflection in the window and everything else in the room.
She's at the top of her game and being rewarded properly for it, she can have anything she needs within a call, and there's stable and frequent work. There's nothing more she could ask for.
The benefits of selling out and becoming a dog.
10.
The Fray - Vienna (EP version) Evan was the first one to find her, stretched out on her couch, a blanket draped over her and conveniently hiding the IV attached to her wrist.
The timer was set at the maximum amount.
The note said, “I'm sorry. Don't follow me. Goodbye.”
11.
The Killers - A Dustland Fairytale “Why did you come after me? Why?” Ginia screams as she buries her hands into Evan's shirt, feeling the fabric crumple under her fingers, knowing even as real as it feels, as perfect as it feels, the flaws are in its perfection.
Evan doesn't say anything as he pulls her close and laughs quietly, holding her to him and placing a chaste kiss to the top of her head and a pistol to the back of her head.
“Because you're my friend. Because I promised I'd never lose another person after Lucian. And because you're the best damn point I've ever worked with. So come back with me, please.”
