Pet Peeves

Something about fic recently has really been annoying me. I suppose you could call it a pet peeve. And that is the word 'unexplainable,' or more likely the lack of the word. You would think anyone with a good grasp of the English language would know that it's 'inexplicable.' Surely 'unexplainable' just sounds wrong to people? It certainly does to

Ah, but you're assuming every ficwriter *has* a good grasp of English.

From some fics I've read, I doubt that is the case.

But then surely they'd at least look it up, *especially* if they don't have a good grasp. Usually if I'm even a little unsure about a word I'll look it up. And granted, I do make my share of mistakes, but usually those are because I type too carelessly.

And did you notice my short pieces? I think I've changed my mind about those, heh. They really are quite fun to write. I never realised.

Some people just don't care. Not everybody is like us... Unless you're talking about otherwise good fic which only has that word wrong, in which case I don't know what to say either.
