Well, LJ seems to be having trouble processing the fall out from the news (seems to be confirmed now) of Michael Jackson's death.
I guess no matter what you think of him, Thriller did define a generation and change music, or something.
But wow - the celebrity death toll today is getting ridiculous. If they are passing out free cool-aid on the streets of LA - just say no.
****EDIT*****
So a quick look through the "recent public posts" feature of Live journal has taught me a few things:
1) LJ has a serious spam problem - I mean serious
2) don't look through the "recent public posts" feature, particularly if you want to keep your relatively innocent eyes (like mine)- and work computer - innocent (Yuck!)
3) I was right, at least 70% of the posts that are not spam or, yuck, are posts about Michael Jackson.
Now I am not a Michael Jackson fan. I never really got into his music in the 80's/90's and those accusations, well I wasn't in the courtroom and didn't see the evidence so I leave the judging to juries, judges and gods but lets just call it unsettling.
However, I have to say I respected the man's talent and it was very evident. He seemed to embody that old phrase about no genius being without insanity.
I have, have however, found watching all this fall out in the age of the internet fascinating. I remember when Princess Di passed, and watching all this happen in about 15 minutes on the internet. Well the sociologist in me is fascinated.
