Yesterday while cleaning house I stumbled across my old GeoBook word processor. And I discovered that it still worked just fine. So last night I cleaned it up and attempted to recharge the battery. Well the battery is shot clearly. But I have the AC adapter still so no worries there.
Tonight I sat down and started writing on it. I wanted to see if I still could write anything. It has been so long and my creative energy as been so focused on drawing I admit I had doubts. But after an hour or so of free writing I started to feel at ease with it again. It felt, good. Then I spent a half-hour on a little more focused writing. I got out a little prelude piece of sorts. No idea if I want to follow through on it or not. It was more of an exercise really. But I'm happy with how it turned out.
Now I have to figure out one little thing. The GeoBook is old and can only save files to a floppy disk. My good(relatively speaking) desk top has no floppy drive. This little netbook obviously doesn't either. So now I need to look into something to take care of this. At least if I want to continue using it as a writing tool. And I think I do. That's all it's good for, but that's all I need it for anyway. I had a external floppy drive I'd picked up at a yard sale for fifty cents. I never was able to get it to work however. Maybe though I'll invest a little more in one. I have other things on old floppies that I'd like to be able to have access to as well.
