Writing Exercise

I really should be doing more of these. The last one was back in January apparently. Just a short piece written in under ten minutes.

Ticket Line

The line was long and there was no way around it. But he had promised her he would get that ticket. The problem was that everyone else in line was there for different tickets. Nothing at all to do with what he was there for. As such he really stood out among them. They could tell, he wasn't part of the group. Yet not a one would let him go ahead and get what he was after. In fact they seemed determined to make sure he had to wait as long as they could.

This was the only line and the only place where he could get the ticket. He had to wait through this insufferable line. He looked around up and down the line, hoping that maybe he would see at least one other person like him. As far as he could see there was none. He was all alone.

The ticket line for the afterlife was always this long. And those waiting for their tickets to Hell outnumbered the ones wanting tickets to Heaven more and more each day.
