The Stepsister Scheme by Jim Hines

Last night I finished reading The Stepsister Scheme by jimhines.

It was a fun read. First off I enjoy the classic fairy tales, which this novel uses very well. Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are off to rescue the Prince from Cinderella's Stepsisters and someone else. Not going to say who so no spoilers. I'll just say it was a surprise, yet not unexpected.

Hines uses less commonly known versions of the girls tales nicely. I'm familiar with some of them, but most people I know had never heard of these versions of the tales. I was pleased to see them being used instead of the more well known tellings.

All of the characters are well done and developed nicely. Hines has a good knack for making believable characters. And I am looking forward to reading more about them. There are two more novels in this series, The Mermaid's Madness and Red Hood's Revenge. I think you can guess who will turn up in those. Should be pretty interesting. Still it is going to be a while before those come out. Until then I think I will read the Jig The Goblin Series.

I must say that The Stepsister Scheme is an excellent start to what looks to be a great series. I look forward to more from Hines.
