Buddhist stole antique statue "to pray"
A Japanese man whose home was found packed with Buddhist statues told police he had stolen some from temples in the ancient capital of Kyoto so he could pray to them, domestic media said Tuesday. Police found 21 statues of Buddha in the 59-year-old's house after he was arrested on suspicion of stealing a wooden Buddha figure from a temple in Kyoto. "I stole this because of my devotions," a Kyoto police spokesman quoted Itsuo Abe as saying of the 70 cm, early 17th century statue, which belonged to Kenninji, a Zen temple founded in 1202. "I like Buddha statues. I took it home and prayed to it every day."
Buddha Somehow I doubt that will save his soul.
Buying the wrong beer gets three people stabbed
A Manatee County man is in jail after deputies say he stabbed his three roommates late Friday night. Deputies were called to a trailer park on County Road 39 around 11 Friday night after a witness allegedly saw 50-year-old Amilcar Herrarte-Guerra stabbing the victims. The witness told deputies Herrarte-Guerra and the victims were drinking beer when he left to go to the bathroom. When he returned, he saw the stabbing. Investigators say Herrarte-Guerra fled the scene on foot, but he was found about 500 yards away passed out. Herrarte-Guerra had blood on his shirt and other evidence that deputies say proved his presence at the crime scene. Herrarte-Guerra was apparently upset with the brand of beer two of the victims bought, and started hitting them before pulling out a knife.
Beer I always knew beer was bad for you.
Wal-Mart Customer Finds Teeth In Wallet
A customer shopping at a Walmart in Falmouth told store workers he found 10 human teeth in a wallet he was about to purchase. Police said the man found the teeth Saturday when he unzipped a compartment in the wallet. One tooth had a filling. The customer turned the wallet and the teeth over to employees but left the store without giving his name. Police investigating the incident told The Cape Cod Times that the teeth belong to an adult, but since there was no blood or gum tissue on the teeth, they would be unable to perform DNA tests. A Walmart spokeswoman said the company believes it was an "isolated incident," but will investigate.
