Big news! My thesis is due in 10 days on February 1st between 10:30 and 11:30 AM, no exceptions. It is by and large written, needing only to be 40 pages of text body, and I am currently circling the battlements, shoring up the defense of my arguments here and there. However, I am concerned about the fact that no native English speaker has proofread it yet besides me, so I'm wondering how many people out there could be enticed to try tackling it and have it back to my by the end of the next weekend.
If I know how to reach you via e-mail feel free to let me know if you have time and I'll send it your way. I am especially keen on receiving the ministrations of people who are able/keen to criticise me in writing, should be writing theses of their own, are in the 'calm before the storm' period of gestation, or any combination thereof.
Of course I realize that reading an entire thesis, even a small one, on one little area of nanophotonics, will be too big a task for some, and a great bore for all. Even if you don't think you can get through all of it but could hit a few key areas, I'd appreciate the help. The more eyes the better.
There are of course some rules: Because I hope to publish at least a couple of papers based on what is in the thesis in the not too distant future, I would respectfully ask that you not share it with anybody else. I would be sending you several Word and PowerPoint (or PDF) files, the text and figures of each chapter, and would want your comments somehow included in the file that you'd send back to me, either as track changes in the text body or some other clearly distinguishable text colour. Finally, I'd need it back by your Sunday night (Jan 27th) preferably sooner.
So if you have the time, and really want me to owe you a favour, here is your chance to put me massively in your debt. You might not get another opportunity like this one until my PhD thesis is due in 3 years, so grab it while you can.
Very much obliged,
Shade
