Guitar strings are vicious

Feb 23, 2019 19:39

I like to pick up my guitar during the week while I am taking a break from work. I put on the kettle, and while waiting for the water to boil for tea, I strum a bit, play a song or two. It's just a little break and it keeps me doing that, "pick it up for at least a few minutes every day" thing.

A few months ago, one of the strings on my slimline Yamaha broke. It's my fave to play because a) slimline and b) it has a built in tuner which is the best thing EVER. But when I went to change the strings, one of the pegs broke. So instead of ordering a new set of pegs, I just started using my second favourite guitar.

Yes, I am that lazy.

A couple days ago, one of the strings on the second favourite broke.

So the desire to change strings was now greater than the laziness that would otherwise induce me to start using the third favourite guitar. Since I have a broken string, I now have a spare peg I can steal for the fave guitar. Also, my tuner sucks and I hate trying to tune that thing, or I probably would just play the third favourite.

Well, the Yamaha just got a blood offering, because that fricking high E string whipped back at me when I was twisting the used strings up in a bundle and impaled my thumb like a fish hook. I tried to jerk free before I realized that. Ouch.

Don't ignore your favourite guitar, folks. I think it was looking for revenge.

In other news, besides making blood sacrifices to my guitar, today I did dishes, made chicken stew in a crockpot and spent several hours on homework. I just posted the chapter that goes with the art
danceswithgary made - go look at it, it's beautiful!. And now, I'm going to try and get some writing done (crossing fingers)
