They did it AGAIN.
Fucking hell.
Goddamn assholes! They waited just long enough for people to start feeling like maybe they escaped the purge, and then BAM. They hit again. It's almost exactly 6 weeks from the initial cut, and today they did another round. This time, they laid off the one other guy who I thought for sure would be safe, because like me, he's the only one who does his job. He was only tangentially associated with my team since they moved CX under marketing last year. He's handled corporate level complaints and customer escalations since I've been on the team (so over 5 years now) with dignity and aplomb. I've been his back-up when he was on vacation and MAN, he has a HARD JOB.
Like I said, he is THE ONLY ONE who does his job.
And now there are none.
So. Any doubt I had about this being an all out assault on proactively improving customer experience and switching our strategy to pure MARKETING MARKETING MARKETING have been completely laid to rest.
I can feel the sword of Damocles dangling over my head.
