GYWO - Word Bowling!

Jan 20, 2018 22:51

Cool writing exercise today.

You get 10 words - mine were emerald, willow, steam, tremble, triumphant, eject, camera, flank, waffle, vanish, and you write 10 lines. Each word is in a new line.

Here's what I came up with. The problem is - it is clearly a scene from a story that I have not written, and I don't know what the hell just happened here, but I would dearly like to find out. Because Draco is tripping and Potter is pissed and *something* got caught on film.

Can someone tell me *what*, because I sure as hell don't have a clue.

Bored beyond measure, his gaze wandered around the classroom until emerald eyes unexpectedly locked with his own.

"Be sure the willow bark is ground into a fine powder," the new potions professor droned on, and Draco looked away, dragging his attention back to his cauldron where it belonged.

Steam swirled up as he carefully stirred in the bark, 20 times counter-clockwise just as instructed.

His aloof demeanor was betrayed by the slight tremble in his hands.

Potter was not generally one to waffle over his choices, and he'd made it clear he wasn't going to back down.

When they were dismissed, he made a break for it in hopes he could vanish before Potter could catch him.

Fast as he was, Potter was better, darting up to flank him against the wall of the small corridor he had attempted to escape down.

"You'll hand over the camera now, Malfoy," he said, and mutely, Draco did just that.

A simple flick of his wand and a muttered incantation served to eject the film, followed by an elaborate swish that unspooled the entire film, thoroughly ruining it.

"Better luck next time," Potter said with a triumphant smirk, then handed the camera back and walked away.
