Leisurely day off? HAHAHAHAHA NOPE

Good Friday - day off work so I can relax, drink some coffee, kick about... HA! NO!

Had to finish making up the goody bags for the kids - I'm head of the social committee here, and we usually do an Easter event for the kids, but since I'm busy tomorrow and we've got construction everywhere, we decided to just make up goody bags for every unit in the co-op. That's 70+ bags. It took a little while...

Just got in a short while ago. Had to run some errands, pick up some groceries and take the boy out to get new pants. We have a wedding to go to tomorrow, and I took the middle child out for a new outfit on Wednesday night since the last fancy shirt I bought her was for her grad a couple years ago.

The boy had a similar issue; the last fancy thing he has is from his grad. The shirt still fits; sadly, the suit no longer does. And this morning he came and told me that his black pants - the ones he was going to wear because they would be good enough with the dress shirt - tore. And yeah, no fixing that - right down the inside of the leg, not along the seam. Off to the store we go.

Side note about Walmart. On one hand, we could go there - cheaper for sure. They probably will have something that fits him. But, Walmart. I've been having more and more ideological and moral issue with shopping there over the years. The more I learn about their business practises, how they underpay their workers, how they make no effort to protect the workers in the 3rd world countries who make their cheap products, the harder it is for me to justify shopping there. God knows, to really cut out anything we buy that does not come from an ethical and/or sustainable source would break the bank - but I can choose to not shop at retailers who are so blatant in their disregard for the people who work for them. So, today I chose not to shop at Walmart. Doesn't mean I'll never do it again, but I'm doing my best to not give them any of my money.

We ended up at George Richards at Market Crossings. The boy tried on a couple pairs of dress pants... DUDE. I don't think I'll ever complain about prices at Pennington's ever again. Granted they were wool, but $195 is a little steep for slacks. I ended up getting him a pair pair of dark charcoal grey pants that are close enough to black to make me happy, a pair of jeans (both on sale) a Captain America t-shirt and a belt (not on sale) but the whole lot was the same price as the one pair of dress pants. On one hand, I shudder - I've never spent so much on clothing for him, but then, I've never taken him to a men's clothing store before - usually it's Mark's or the Sear's outlet. Yikes. These better last a while.

Now I need to get the hell off the computer, go put away stuff, make dinner, wash dishes, finish the laundry and make up a nice card for the wedding tomorrow.

Somewhere in that sack of crazy, I will insert beer.

life, family
