Day 3
In your own space, talk about your creative process - from what inspires you to what motivates you to how you manage to break through blocks. Does your process change depending on the type of creating you're doing?
Lyrics & Music: I've often found I am more inspired to write music after being an a filk convention. I've written several songs after Conflikt, OVFF or FKO.
Stories: In the last few years, most of the stories I've written have been for fests or Challenges. I think I work best when I have clear direction of what to do. I have really enjoyed the Reverse bangs - having art to work from can be really cool. I've also gotten some awesome prompts from the SGA Santa; having a really specific request can make it much easier to write a story.
Other: for both jewelry and paper crafts, I like to look at things other people have done and that often gives me inspiration and ideas about what I want to do. I see designs or colours I like, then think about how I can incorporate the parts I like into my own style.
Strangely enough, I both love and hate deadlines. I hate the panic of almost being at one and not being done, but *having* a deadline gives me a motivation to get things done like nothing else.
In a perfect world, I would have a craft room with space everything I like to work on laid out, but that's not my life. I just work on things as inspiration strikes, digging out my various boxes and containers of craft stuff if it's crafty stuff or clearing that all away and pulling out the laptop if it's writing.
