Happy New Year. So far, my Year has started out with a bang. Of a sort. If you consider a toothache that feels like a pick-axe drilling into your jaw a *bang*.
Well... it is, after a fashion. Just not the kind of bang I was hoping for.
So it took me pretty much the whole week to throw of the Christmas cold (during which I spent a lot of time on the couch, drinking tea, watching movies, and sending my kids on errands for Kleenex and NyQuill). Then we spent New Years with the old roomie, where we drank coffee, yaked, sent the kids on errands to take the dog for a walk and pick up stuff at the store - and watch movies.
I was PRODUCTIVE! Not.
I started to feel a twinge in my jaw before New years and KNEW that it meant I needed to make a dentist appointment. It just got exponentially worse each day - I called to make a dentist appt on Wednesday for Friday, but I don't think I slept more than an hour or two Thursday night. Then it was so bad friday, the dentist gave me antibiotics and T3s and sent me home. So I spent the entire week drugged, and watching the clock for when I was allowed to take the next T3. And on Sunday night, my body informed me that it and T3s no longer got along.
It was a rough night, man. I am not used to feeling that awful unless I've drank a whole lot of alcohol. Also, I don't recommend throwing up when your jaw is aching. Just saying.
I telecommuted this morning, finally went in to work around 10am when I figured that I could make it witout needing an emergency bathroom run. I switched from the T3s to ibuprophen for pain relief, and they don't work nearly as well, so the pain has ratched back up to about a 4-5 when it was down to a 2, BUT at least I only feel a little sick (500 MG tabs of amoxicillin and 400 MG ibuprofen - party in my tummy!) and also, I am actually able to work instead of passing out 20 minutes after taking a pain pill.
Oh, Codine, why are you so evil?
I am mostly finished the Conflikt Songbook - just waiting for a couple things, but it's pretty much done. I am planning to drive down on the Friday and room with
moosaic4 at the cheap-ass little hotel across the parking lot from the con hotel. That way, I can afford to actually attend - yay!
It will be very much fun to hang out with filkers again. It feels like it was just a couple weeks since it happened last. Man, I don't get out enough! And, I am *hoping* that
squidgiePDX makes out up, for at least a day, because YAY COOL to meet people I know from LJ, especially when they are both a FILK person and an SGA FIC person. No agenda there at all, nope.
I am definately going to Sterling either at the end of January or sometime early February. I was talking to one of the managers here about maybe seeing a friend or two that live the DC area, and she said it's a little farther to DC then it looks on the map. Having never been out that way, I have no clue - I *do* know that head office is fairly close to Dulles and apprently whatever hotel I will be staying at when I fly out there is in that area too. So, for any folks out that way who might want to meet up - I will apparently be out near the airport if that works for you in terms of meeting up for coffee or dinner or something. I'll provide a date when I have one.
Going home now. Grand plans this evening include food that I can chew (which has been a bit of a challenge) drugs (blessed be pain killers) and sleep. In that order. Oh, and counting down hours till dentist appointment on Thursday morning. At 11 am. Rawr.
