I had an extremely pleasant Sunday evening with fine folk, food and filk.
hsifyppah invited me over to for dinner at Casa de Lunder as deborah_c was in town from the UK on business. It's always a lovely thing to meet up with filkers from other parts of the world. And it's always lovely to hang out with motherinlawtree and capnblackberry for any a reason at all, so it was just bonus goodness all around. u_must_b_joking and I ran a few songs from our OVFF set list over the course of the evening and they seemed to go over well.
I got to show off my pretty new blue guitar, but asked capnblackberry if he could possibly raise the action on it a little since there is a fair amount of fret buzz. He took a look and advised me that I just needed to have the truss rod tightened - I didn't notice, but apparently the neck is slightly bowed, and it's the point higher up in the neck where it bows back up that most the buzz takes place. Sadly, I don't have a guitar wrench and the one he had was for his pretty, pretty Larrivees and it did not fit my Yamaha. Ah well. I'll have to pay a visit to Long and McQuade and ask for assistance.

How is it I have known about this for 2 years and I am NOT READY TO GO?
I swearz. This is the worst time of year to be taking time off at work. Everything is massively busy, I had three projects land on my plate last Tuesday afternoon with a due date of Oct 25th, except that my last day in the office before that will be the 20th, so my for realz due date is oct 19th and I still don't have the info I need back from the people I need it from to do my job and I'm starting to PANIC!
*tries to breathe*
I may have to do some telecommuting whilst I am in Ohio, because I really don't trust the guy that I have taking over updating the sales spreadsheet for the phone center to really know what he is doing, and I didn't even bother trying to train him to do the mail outs cuz it's really hard to train people over the phone, you know?
Also I am feeling guilty about leaving the kids for a week to go gallivanting across the country. I wish I could afford to bring them with me. But also, school, so no.
I have so much to do, why I am being so bad and playing on LJ?? *shakes head*
