Ever since I first sat in my dining room drawing up the initial blueprints for the Stargate float the Vancouver Stargate Fangroup put together, I've been taking pictures and thinking that it would be fund to put together a picture album of the event. Pictures online are great, but unless you have your computer with you, it's hard to really appreciate them. Even then, you don't get the same feeling you do from holding a creatively organized scrapbook album.
Fast forward to almost a year after we started the initial plans to build the Gate; David Hewlett is appearing at Creation Con in Vancouver. And since that was first confirmed, I thought, "Hey, wouldn't it be nice to make a scrapbook for the Hewletts' with piccies of Jane and Baz and David and a few pics of the building of the gate? I bet he'd get a kick out of that..."
Thus I spake, and thus it was done.
Kalliope came over yesterday and did a gruelling 8 hour crop-till-you-drop with me, and then I stayed up till ooooooh-dark-30 finishing it. All that remains is to decide what to put on the splash page - a few pics and some text probably, but I have to decide - to write up the thank you for the end, and go through and write captions next to all the pictures.
Then, I'm going to TRY to get all the people who actually worked on the gate to autograph it. If I see all the actual construction workers before the con. I THINK that would be funny, since fans are always getting *his* autograph.
I'm going to make
n7cdrsheppard do some of the captioning. My writing is often messy. Then, when her and I are in the autograph line together, she can be my moral support when I present it to him - opened to the page with the gorgeous 8x10 of him sitting beside Jane with Baz on his lap during the parade. It is the BEST picture from the entire day, and him and Jane have absolutely delighted smiles, and you can actually clearly see Baz's face even though he's chopming on his fingers. I'm hoping (HOPE HOPE HOPE) the picture will elicit a big smile out of him, cuz it is a seriously *sweet* photo. We'll see what happens.
AIEE! OMG! 1 week till David! How did that happen?
Also, isn't it hilarious that on Friday, my boss asked me if I would be able to fly out on business next week? Uhm... love him, but he has a memory like a SIEVE and I had to patiently explain, again, that I'm sorta busy this week. Oi.
Also, did I mention I totally caved, like the pathetic fangirl I am, and sprung for the 'sandwich' photo with DH and the Flan? Oh dear GOD, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I blame
outsideth3box for yelling at me that I had to, had to, HAD TO, that it was moral IMPERATIVE and the universe was clearly telling me something... caved. Oh, yes, I melted faster than Rodney's heart at the thought of a cache of fully charged ZPMs.
