Well, talk about the right place at the right time. I am currently working for the biggest events co-ordination and function planning company in Toronto as an events-co-ordinator and administrative assistant. It was rather funny how I got the job too, basically I got chatting to this Kiwi guy at the hostel we were staying at and he said he was leaving Canada to go to London. I asked him what he was doing in Canada and he said he was working as a events co-ordinator and admin assistant, but that he was leaving in a few days. I mentioned to him that I was looking for a job and he said that if I were interested I should give his boss a call and let him know I am looking for a job. So I did. The phone conversation went as follows:
Sam - "Hello, Sam speaking."
Shannon - "Hi Sam, my name is Shannon. Stuart told me to give you a call. He said you might have a position available."
Sam - "ah ok, did sturat tell you what he did, what his job entailed?"
Shannon - "yeah, event co-ordination and general admin duties"
Sam - "and you are able to do that?"
Shannon - "yeah, I've done similar jobs back in Australia (blatant lie)"
Sam - "great. well what are you doing tomorrow"
Shannon - "nothing, i'm free all day. Do you want me to come in for an interview?"
Sam - "no, you can start work tomorrow morning at 9am. See you then."
not bad huh?? and the job is as cruisey as stuart said it would be. I've typed up one letter this morning, spoken to a few clients on the phone and spent the rest of the morning surfing the net and updating this journal.
And they say things will slow down over the winter months.....
what a job.
