time for my obligatory entry about yesterdays events.

So we picked up Kriss around 12:30. My parents don't like him (for good reason i suppose) so at first there was some slight tension. But listening to AFI was a good icebreaker and such things.

We arrived at the Masq around 2:30-3:00. There were about 20 people in line already but I figured that most of them were there for the DF meet-and-greet. I had to pee desperately so Kriss and I walked through the ghetto to get to the nicer part of town and we went to Borders where I urinated and such things. Then we shuffled through their CDs (they had a good selection) and their magazines (also a good selection). Then I decided I wanted to go back to the Masq. So we sat on the sidewalk and talked for a bit... then Kriss left! He was like "i'll be back in a minute" then 2 hours later he showed back up. He brought me water (which i needed so i wouldn't dehydrate during the show) tho so it was all good. We talked to Mike Jensen from Showbread!!!! Actually, I didn't talk.. I just sat and listen..it was still rad.. Showbread is my second favorite band and I got to hang out with the guitarist whilst waiting to see my favorte band. woo.

So anyway, the Masq started letting people in around 6:45 so I go up to the Will-Call office and guess what? They don't have my tickets! I'm like.. "oh god." But the guy was like "its okay, I'm sure you did have tickets I just can't find them" so he stamped my hand and let us in. We waited in the bar area (Purgatory) for about an hour and then they let us up into Heaven. By the time we got in there the barricade was full but we got right behind the front row kids.

About 45 minutes later Most Precious Blood finally took the stage. Now to be perfectly honest, I don't like the band at all. But I have to admit, they put on a really good fuckin show. Like whoa! I got a couple of pictures of the singer rockin out in the crowd. Most Precious blood played about 8 or 9 songs then they were done.

After about a 15 minute wait, the Explosion took the stage. I LOVE the Explosion. They're fun and obnoxious and really talented. So I enjoyed their set. They played about 12 songs and totally rocked my face.

This entire time I had alot of space around me, which surprised me because at the last [AFI] show it was so packed I couldn't move so I was expecting much of the same thing. The security guards were really rough also, if someone was crowd surfing they'd shove the person down to the floor--there weren't many crowd surfers.

After the Explosion there was a really long wait. It was probably about 30 minutes but it seemed like an hour. The stage would start filling with smoke and I'd be like "oh oh oh oh" then the smoke would clear and there'd be no AFI. The crowd started to get a little more crowded at this point but still NOTHING like in Toronto.

So the lights finally go out and ambience comes over the speakers. Then the slow drum beat.. then the chanting, "LOVE! YOUR HATE! YOUR! FAITH LOST! YOU! ARE NOW! ONE! OF US!" Then Davey, Jade, and Hunter walk onto stage (Adam was already at the drums) and Davey starts singing, "Nothing from nowhere, I'm no one at all..." It was beautiful. They proceeded to kick my ass during the entire show. I danced(if you can call it that) and sang my heart out. It was fuckin beautiful! At one point Davey came over to wear I was and pointed at him and he pointed back and he looked right at me! Later on I'll post more about it... I've never felt the way I felt during their set. Oh man.. oh man.
