I've been out of school for several months now, and it's quite an adjustment in lifestyle.
For money, I'm working in my brothers company, Antespam, which is good money and not (at all) difficult. I'm also teaching horn, currently having three students(with another any week now, hopefully), as well as freelancing around town (and Kentucky) whenever I get the chance. Also, I have a job with Brantley, a security-provider, working as an on-call rent-a-cop. However, I've been working there for about a month or so, and have only been called once (and had to decline that since I was out of town helping a friend move).
The house is coming along pretty nicely, Jessica has been watching HGTV, and has been doing a good job decorating, rearranging, and organizing. It's still very tiny (can't really build on to a rented house) but at least now it's looking a lot more homey.
The horn has had its usual ups and downs. Practicing is sometimes tedious without a regular ensemble(s) to play in, but it also gives me a chance to work on some basics, which is always good. I also just joined a brass quintet at UofL that needed a horn player, and hopefully it'll be a good way to regularly play with others, because the orchestra freelancing can come and go.
Overall, it's quite different not having to get up and go to class every day, but I think I could get used to this kind of making-money lifestyle...unless I decide to go back for a doctorate or performance certificate or something.
