I suppose I've put off updating long enough, and I'm pretty bored, so here it goes.
Jessica left for her Girl Scout Europe trip on Friday (explains one reason why I'm bored), but before she left she came up here and visited/surprised me (she told me should couldn't come up Monday (when she agreed to)and that she'd be here on Tuesday, then Monday night, after my LO audition, I heard a knock at the door and it was her). She had good timing too, since I was a little down about the audition.
Which, as you can probably guess means i didn't "get" it. Although it was only an auxiliary audition, which makes me kinda upset to not get "picked", but I did make it through a few of the excerpts, and I did not play my final excerpt as well as I have in the past, so it's not like I'm really distraught, it's just kind of a set-back. Although Jessica's friend Teresa (who plays oboe/Eng. Horn in the Huntsville SO, and subs in the ASO) found out about another audition that I hadn't heard of, so she emailed me the stuff. It's not until August, which gives me time, and it's good to go ahead and get back up on the horse.
Back to Jessica in Europe, I'm a little bummed because I haven't heard from her yet. I'm not panic-stricken or anything, because I know she's ok, but she said she'd email me as soon as she got over here, and I have yet to hear from her. Although I can imagine with the time change and all the stuff they were planning to do, it might not be the easiest thing to get to a computer.
On a happier note I finally found out when I'll get my horn. Unfortunantely it won't be ready before the horn symposium in Tuscaloosa, so I will have to pick it up there. However, at least this gives me a definant date to receive it (either that Sunday or Monday, depending on when I get back from my newphew's wedding).
I'm still working at UPS, lifting boxes, but fortunantly we get tomorrow off, and I took off last Monday for the LO audition, and I will take off next Monday (and maybe Tues. if possible) to go to Tusc. and pick up my horn and maybe try to find a place to play it (I'm sure it's going to be a practice room nightmare).
Oh, yes, and the power went off twice today in my apartment, once from 11am - 1:30pm and then again around 7:30pm for only a minute or so. This morning it was nice for awhile, I just layed in bed, got some extra rest and read a book (I'm trying to learn much, much more about finances - I need to learn how to do/manage mine), but around 12:45 I started to wonder what the heck was going on. In the evening it wasn't as nice, since I was cooking. But at least now I know how much I depend on electricity. But I kinda already knew that - so it was also kind of redundant.
That's all I have - if I don't post before I leave for Atlanta/Tuscaloosa on Friday night after work, I will probably next post pictures of my new horn.
