It's the same every time

I don't know what it is about albums I like that make a horrible first impression.

I got the new Danny Michel album. My first listen, my internal reaction was "What the fuck? Why would I ever listen to this again? It's dumb and there's nothing to like."

Now I like it. It only took one more listen. It sounds quirky, and there are a lot of cool little diversions. It's just different in that it has this sunny, feel-good vibe about it.

I wonder what methodology reviewers of music use to evaluate an album. I'd want to listen to an album through no less than 5 times over a few days before I came to any real conclusion about it. I doubt reviewers express such diligence. Then again, who cares about reviews?
