You know, there's one thing in the new Shai Hulud album that is meant for me, yet I feel it is a weakness.
Back when I was discovering heavy music, I heard a few songs that really opened me up to the genre. One of those songs - one that would be in the running for my favourite metalcore song - is Set Your Body Ablaze by Shai Hulud. Shai Hulud re-recorded the song for the new album. The rest of the album is intense, but this version lacks fire in comparison to the original. My ears expect the ferocity of the original recording (especially the vocalist in that version), not the precision of the newer version.
