$5 was a small price to pay for lossless audio of Ghosts I-IV.
The 2 hour download frustrated me.
It seems many people are conditioned to listen to the vocal track of a song as the song itself. They conceive of the arrangement of a song as some element on the periphery.
I think it's obvious that I don't think of music in these terms. To me, music is a celebration of sound. Vocals are one instrument used to provide sounds, and I personally only notice the words in terms of the sounds of the syllables.
Ghosts is no less expressive than any other NIN work. In many ways, it feels like we're getting a closer glimpse of Trent Reznor than his lyrics and voice put on display. There is nothing to be interpreted here. An experience of instrumental music such as this is visceral.
This album (or these albums?) were a nice surprise.
