Now that I've finished my mix, I should look back and see what I'd call my albums of the year.

I could probably also pick a Top 5 songs on the year too, though it would be hard. Off the top of my head, contenders would be:

• Tool - Wings for Marie (Parts I and II)


• Aereogramme, Isis - Low Tide


• Converge - Grim Heart/Black Rose


• Mastodon - Capillarian Crest

Fuck it, I'll just call those the top songs. I didn't expect that songs that good could even exist on their respective albums. It's safe to say that those tracks all "blow my mind", and it's exciting that such works could be captured on record and immortalized.

I need to check out more Aereogramme, because when the guy sings on Low Tide, it's so beautiful that it makes me want to cry. (I'd made mention a short while ago of a track that made my dad come into the room, stand and listen, and ask what it was. That was Low Tide.)
