A Wonderful Weekend!

This will be a wonderful weekend!

Yesterday, I got taken to Kohl's (a clothing store that I don't think I'd ever heard of before) and spent $18 on a nice suit jacket, $16 on a nice pair of pants, and $4 on a cute tee, and $6 on a black tanktop to wear under other shirts, and $8 on a nice black-and-white polo shirt. With tax, my total was $53, and I got a $10 off coupon for my next trip (if I go before the 7th) and so my roommates and I will be going back this week!  Yay! I got clothes!

Then, this is General Conference Weekend!  I love Conference! It's the bi-annual meeting in which the entire LDS world sits down and watches (or goes) to a church-wide Conference and the leadership (both male and female) talk; we get church updates, the results of the church audit, etc... For 2 (or 3, if you're male) 2-hour sessions on Saturday and then 2 more on Sunday.  Pretty much, the first weekend of April (and October) are Conference weekends and absolutely nothing else gets done.

And they re-dedicated the tabernacle, and so the Sat. afternoon session was held there.  I was watching the broadcast at my apartment and it was amazing to see the Tabernacle organ again--it's one of the most magnificent (and largest) pipe organs in the world. (Pres. Hinckley mentioned, though, that the new benches in the Tabernacle are just as uncomfortable as the old ones, which caused us to fall over laughing.  Inside joke, I suppose, for any person whose ever been to the Tabernacle. If you've ever been to a conference/church meeting/concert in the Mormon Tabernacle, you find out--real fast--that its benches are among the most uncomfortable ones in existence!)

*happy hum* and at the huge conference breakfast we held in the giant atrium--"garden court"--in the WILK (Student Center), there was--for once--food I could eat!  They cooked with oil instead of margarine.  I was so surprised! I could eat the potatoe-stuff and toast and fruit! (Pancakes, bacon, eggs, and sausage, etc., were different matters, but hey! I don't like those anyway!) (We (my singles' congregation) hold a breakfast there for all 120+members before Sat.'s morning session).

And, and, and...! Tomorrow I'm going to see Erin, and then go hang out with my brother Richard--who, despite the fact he lives only 8 or 9 blocks away, has only come around to see me ~4 times this semester *sniff*--he's letting me do all my laundry at his apartment, while I help clean his kitchen for his cleaning check on Monday, after which we will munch cookies and watch Jaws (because my InBio prof said I had to see it, as it give accurate biological shark data (if you realize their "great white shark" is really modeled after the extinct Megalodon shark) and whatnot.)

Then, on Monday, I have my last midterm of the semester! *tralalala* It's only an Ancient Scripture one, too, so I'm not too worried.  And on Tuesday, it's my 21st birthday! And Richard said he's going to take me to Tacano's! (This really good Brazilian restau that I've heard about but haven't ever been to.)

So! This will be a most excellent weekend! Clothes shopping! Foodies! Friends! Family! Conference! Birthday! Laziness!  Mmhmm. I'm quite happy.

happy, falling over laughing, excited, chipper
