things were so different when i didn't yet have a car. especially the pictures i took. we used to get rides from our parents or one of our older friends, and go do some zany shit, because we looked at the weekends as a break. and everywhere we went, i took pictures. great pictures. meaningful ones, too, sometimes.
i was just looking at these pictures i took last week. they're funny. they're cute. i'm glad i took them. but they were just so different a couple years ago. and it's not only the people in them, but also the reason i took them. i used to take pictures because it was just something i loved to do. i guess, like everyone else, i kinda had that dream that my pictures could be something amazing. they could end up on jones soda bottles, in magazines, and most importantly in memories, forever.
but it seems like the pictures i took last week at project playground just happened. happened because i had a camera in the right place at the right time, and i just felt like i had to. i still love taking pictures, but it isn't the same kind of love. maybe changing cameras has that effect on people.
i guess taking pictures should be a mix of that: something you love to do, but something you feel like you have to do simultaneously. because as people it's important to have a little bit of sunshine in our lives, and to give that light to as many as we can, whether it be through a smile, a setting, or a candid pose.
i really commend all those people who take pictures for the right reasons.
