BREAKING: More from the streets of Kismayo

Jan 19, 2017 23:02

[James and his camera crew are fleeing through the streets of Kismayo, trying to evade stray energy discharge and flying debris.]

James: “Come on, damn it! We have to find a better vantage point than this!

Unseen cameraman: “Oh god! Look out!”

[At the end of the street, just to their left, the Brotherhood pyrokinetic from the earlier video steps into view, wreathed in flame and snarling curses. His attention isn’t on the camera crew, but on the black-armored figure of Havok, visible at the other end of the street.]

[Havok strides forward, his mouth grim beneath the visor of his helmet, and by his fifth step is at a full charge, energy gathering around his fists.]

[James grabs his cameraman physically and dives for the nearest cover, the remains of what looks like it had been a small hotel. There is a certain amount of wild spinning of the camera until someone grabs it and points it back in the direction of the street.]

James: [breathing hard from somewhere just to the left of the cameraman] This is the same man from the street from the initial attack, he's a... damn it, what are they bloody well called--

Cameraman: [breathing just as heavily] Pyrokinetic.

James: He's a pyrokinetic. And that's Havok, Excalibur's second in command... dear God, I hope we make it out of the next five minutes alive.

Pyrokinetic: [yelling what sounds like profanity in Russian, directs a column of white-hot fire down the street at Alex]

Alex: [slows half a step as the fire hits, then charges through it, flame bannering off his shoulders. When he reaches the pyrokinetic, his first punch lands with a detonation like thunder.]

Cameraman: "Christ Jesus, did he just--"

James: "... I didn't realize he was fireproof."

[The fight is short and remarkably brutal; Alex is wearing metal gauntlets and has very few compunctions regarding the Brotherhood. It's not long before he's rolled the unconscious pyrokinetic over, cuffed him, and straightened, breathing hard and rolling one shoulder.]

Alex: "Asshole."

James: (somewhat haltingly) "Ahh... Havok? BBC over here, just letting you know..."

Alex: [straightens abruptly and looks over] "This area isn't secure. I'm going to call for a prisoner transport, can I convince you to go with them to safety when they get here?"

James: "Ahh..."

Cameraman: [under his breath] "Say yes, you bloody idiot--"

Alex: "I very strongly recommend it. I will..." [he pauses, gritting his teeth.] "...stay here for an interview until they get here, if you go with them afterward. Unless I need to go help people sooner."

James: "Well... uh, then, yes. We will go with your, uh, prisoner transport. I'm wondering, well--this seems to be going rather explosively, all things considered. That, uh, wasn't a nuclear bomb just east of the city earlier, was it?

Alex: [smiles, sort of, and turns away for a moment.] "This is Havok, I need a prisoner transport and civilian evac in grid E4 soonest." [He turns back.] "No, that was an ambush. Telekinetics cutting loose at each other can get a little dramatic, but it's more under control than it looks."
