Something I noticed while watching The Blind Banker was money amounts they were talking about. I believe it's about 2 dollars to the pound, or something like that? So if the hairpin was worth 9 million pounds it would be worth 18 million American dollars, and the ten pound lucky cat would be worth twenty dollars. Is it just me, or does that seem like a lot of money for a lucky cat? I can see it being worth ten American dollars, but for some reason I don't get twenty. So, is this just me, or are things relatively more expensive in England, or what?
In addition, can anyone give an overview of English money? Like in America there are quarters and pennies and such for coins, but there are mostly notes, like twenty or five dollar bills. What are the types of currency used in England? What's considered "expensive" (I know that's a very relative term, but I am curious)? How much money do you think Sherlock or John would carry on their person?
Thanks in advance!
