Today was a pretty good day. Sans the fact that I was not permitted to follow my friends out swimming this evening, I started studying today while having some good bonding time. I was in college today, camping out at the Reading Room with Zi, Pui San, Hui Wen, Tat Wei, Kelvin, Jin Soon trying to get started on serious preparation for upcoming exams. We made trips down to the ground floor for food, later on we went to Plaza Damansara for lunch. Jia Liang joined us there and we made plans to go over to Wen's place to pig out on ice cream! Many pit stops later, we were at Hui Wen's place for a while then she tells us her carrying services have been requested for by her mum at Carrefour, Mid Valley. Pui San drove her Chevrolet home, Jin Soon took the remaining bunch of us to my place for ice cream. Hung out in the TV area while we fiddled with my laptop and talked and tried to do some revision as plans brewed- swimming in the evening? They went ahead without me, my mum as usual being her protective self....enough said.
Yesterday, Jia Liang kidnapped Kang and Wen for a short session of talking at my place; Pepperidge Farm cookies, green tea chocolate and 100 Plus by my -2 degree Celcius fish pond as the night breeze swept by and we filled the still quietness with our more-than-occassional laughs. It was a great end to the night after having spent my afternoon with Nadia in Mid Valley- a long overdue catch-up session where I ended up sharing quite a large bit of college stories with her...
The weekend really, was spent in Port Dickson. A cousin got married. A very non-conducive choice of venue, but nevertheless the best option in a small town- the school multi-purpose hall. Cigarette smoke, booze, hard liquor, endless flow of food for forty-five tables and drunk old uncles and microphone-hogging ladies belting out karaoke tunes on stage would aptly piece together what the night truly embodied; the essence of course being a union of two beings who bring much special value to each other. She looked stunning while both my cousin and his dad were nearly drunk- on alcohol and euphoria- by the end of the night. Relatives and friends came together to grace the event and it did see people creating bonds and "finding" old classmates. Cameras clicked. If there can be anything cuter, more innovative and original than something I read off someone's blog, try this: an uncle I used to bicker with when I was younger, well he plucked a hibiscus flower off one of the trees within the school compound and made me walk on stage to well, present it to another uncle who was singing a song (but thankfully, this person sang the best all night). Plucking. Flower. School. Tree. Singing uncle. Unique.
Managed to catch a chat with my bestie tonight, Kang and Jia Liang are talking nonsense now- exhanging and comparing notes via MSN.
In the midst of internal conflict and a haze of emotions, I still find a smile.
And it feels so so good.
