Media Influences and Our Generation
Music has changed greatly over the years of our parents, their parents, and lastly us the product of their musical movement. From early Rock N’ Roll that over the years spawned Alternative, Pop Rock, and Indie Rock are a few examples of stylistic changes. Within each of these genres they all deliver a different message and formed their on culture. The message, the styles, and the pop culture has grown into a mass-media-predator, preying on the young minds of the generations of today.
The mass-musical-media founded their grounds in influencing the teen populace with songs that drive the teens to look and be like the stars that perform for the masses. They deliver a message that you should conform to trendy ways to remain popular and look good. The also urge their listeners to buy their brand of clothing and or products that promises the teens they will look and feel more like a star. Rap stars talk about the clothing and jewelry they buy and how it makes them look better to have the newest of a certain kind of product. These products are mainly clothes, shoes, personal effects like gold caps, gold watches etc.
Pop stars tend deliver their message on a more personal bases by talking about a love they have lost and then show shopping in a music video. This hints to buying something to bring solace to pain. The Pop stars use a catchy beat and smooth lyrics to reach out to teens, the wording has hidden meaning that urges the teen to change their person to fit what they feel are the social standards.
All of this falls back to the stars and record labels that influences the song writers and producers. They all have to hit an agenda that will make money and sway the minds of young teens; our generation. Music is the glue of the world to most of my generation and it has one of the biggest impact on day to day life. You hear music everywhere you go and have no choice but to listen to it. Basically listen to the real message of the songs before you buy into the industry.
